Cambodia Gambling Halls

[ English ]

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the border from neighboring Thailand, in which casino wagering is not legal. Eight gambling halls are situated in a relatively small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent area, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal income accrued from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few controls constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; however, investment sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 17:00, and although visas are apparently required to pass, there are methods around this, as is correct of most border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling hall, features 150 one armed bandits and 60 table games. The Naga river boat is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and 66 of the common tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around resort and hotel complex that features a number of luxuries in addition to the gambling hall, which has 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 table games.
