There is an interesting story to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den wagering is prohibited. Eight casinos are situated in a generally tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime location, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; still, funding sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are apparently required to cross, there are methods around this, as is real of many border crossings.
The initial Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked boat casino, contains one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 slot machines and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machine games and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the common table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel compound that highlights a number of conveniences aside from the casino, which contains ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 table games.
